The usage methods of different plastic extruders are generally different, but the normal shutdown operation is still similar. We will briefly compile a document on the normal shutdown sequence of conventional twin-screw plastic extruders, as follows:
- Firstly, we need to stop feeding the plastic extruder. Conventional twin-screw plastic extruders have a feeding machine or feeding system. If a multi feed system is used, it is necessary to stop each auxiliary feeder at this time.
- If the extruder has a vacuum pumping system, we need to close the valve of the vacuum pipeline and then open the cover plate on the vacuum chamber.
- The screw of the extruder cannot stop rotating directly. It should be gradually reduced in speed and residual materials inside the cylinder should be drained as much as possible. If the extruder uses heat sensitive materials that are easily decomposed due to heating as raw materials, polyolefin materials should be used to replace the residual materials in the main machine before stopping. The twin-screw main machine can only be stopped after the materials are basically discharged. If the extruder production line uses a two-stage unit, the first stage extruder needs to be stopped first, and then the second stage extruder equipment needs to be stopped.
- Stop the main motor cooling fan, oil pump, vacuum pump, and water pump in sequence. Disconnect the power switch of each section of the heater on the electrical instrument control cabinet.
- Stop auxiliary equipment such as the granulator.
- Close all external water pipe valves, including cooling water for the feeding section cylinder, cooling water for the oil lubrication system, vacuum pump, and cooling water for the water tank (the throttle valves for each soft water cooling pipeline of the main cylinder remain stationary).
